I don't care for that type of tipping and always request the straight across tip. Much easier to see from a distance whether or not the feral cat is sterilized.

网页2007年3月31日 · There is an option to ear-tipping: the ear notch. It's far less mutilating since the basic shape of the ear remains. The ear keeps that nice pointy shape. The notch (about 1/4") is done about halfway down the the outside edge of the right ear. It's great because it's far less disfiguring but still serves as an ID that the cat has been TNR'd.

If they weren't spayed the tattoo would have been in the left ear according to the spay and neuter clinic that fixed my oldest cat. 网页2017年6月1日 · If there is just a "notch" missing, that makes me think it is from a fight. The whole point of ear tipping is to be able to quickly identify a cat as fixed from a distance. But if it's on left ear, and doesn't look like a small accidental tear, or a bit of frostbite (which yours doesn't)I'm 99.9% sure it's an ear tip.
