Missing Icon for all .docx and .xlsx file type.
网页2019年3月11日 · As mentioned in the subject, all of my word and excel files are missing the Microsoft Word and Excel icon. I tried a few different methods including reinstall Microsoft office. As you can see from the image above, .pptx seems to be working fine. Others version of Word file like .doc is having the problem too.

网页2012年5月13日 · As an alternative, if the file doesn't exist anywhere, then you can browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\ (depending on your Office version) from "Change Icon", highlight Excel.exe, and select an icon from within it. 网页2012年3月20日 · In general, .xlsx/.xlsm files are somewhat less likely to become corrupt, and can be smaller, but if you make regular backups and have plenty of disk space, there's no reason to spend the time converting. OTOH, there's usually no reason not to take advantage of the OOXML formats for new files that you create.

Also, choosing the "Online Repair" option didn't work. .doc and .xls icons are still white (again, .docx and .xlsx icons are displayed correctly).

网页2020年7月1日 · If I open excel first and use File > Open it will open the file. If Excel is open but I use a shortcut to try to open a .xls file it fails with above message. My only get round would be to find every .xls file on my machine, open Excel, open file, save it as a .xlsx and delete the old file, changing shortcuts where used. Not practical.
